ClearStream Recycling Containers
The Fairfax County Recycling Program has a limited supply of ClearStream® recycling containers to lend to eligible groups. These containers are intended for temporary use at special events. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis to any nonprofit community group located within Fairfax County for events held in the county. An application must be approved before the containers will be reserved. Please print out and complete an application. You can fax the application to 703-324-3949, Attention Recycling Program Coordinator; or, mail it to Fairfax County Solid Waste Management, Attention: Recycling Program Coordinator, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Suite 458, Fairfax, VA 22035. If you have any questions, please call 703-324-5230, TTY 711.
These collapsible containers are lightweight and easy to set up and empty. The lids are bright blue in color—recognizable as recycling containers. They are labeled for collecting bottles and cans and have small circular openings in the lids. The recycling containers should be paired with trash containers to encourage participants to separate trash from recycling. These collapsible containers are great for events with limited set-up and break-down times and/or minimal labor available. They are also eligible for long-term loan for recurring events such as athletic events, seasonal activities, and festivals.
Groups borrowing them are provided with the containers and a supply of plastic bags. Borrowers are responsible for picking up the containers from the Government Center or our Newington facility, 6901 Allen Park Road in Lorton, Virginia., deploying them at the event site, taking the recyclables to an appropriate drop-off center, and returning them.
