You can donate surplus or gently-used building supplies to Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, located at 7770-A Richmond Highway in Alexandria. The Alexandria location is one of over 200 ReStores to be found throughout the United States and Canada.
Habitat ReStores are retail outlets where quality used and surplus building materials are sold at a fraction of normal prices. Proceeds from ReStores help local affiliates fund the construction of Habitat houses within the community. Most materials are donated from building supply stores, contractors, demolition crews or individuals wishing to support Habitat for Humanity. Typical new or gently used items that may be donated to the Restore include:
- Adhesives
- Appliances – Electric and Gas (when gas – new only)
- Architectural Items
- Bathroom Fixtures
- Building Supplies - Drywall, bricks, siding, concrete, caulk, molding, insulation, plywood, paneling, other lumber, shingles, etc.
- Doors and Windows
- Flooring (Carpet, new only)
- Fence Materials
- Furniture – Non-Upholstered
- Garden Tools
- Hardware and Fasteners (includes nails and screws)
- Heating/AC Vents
- Kitchen Cabinets and Countertops
- Lighting and Electrical
- Paints and Varnishes (unused full containers and ¾ full clean cans only)
- Plumbing
- Roofing
- Tile – wall and floor
- Tools
