The Recycle Guys are here! They will be appearing throughout Fairfax County to encourage people to recycle right.
Introducing...
|
Ronnie Milkjug
"Ronnie Milkjug" is the sensible one in the bunch--keeping the rest of the Recycling Guys in line. He can't stand it when anything goes to waste--especially things like plastic milk jugs. He knows that they can be recycled and turned into another plastic container. That way, every milk jug has a chance to keep on being useful. Ronnie loves to teach people about recycling and all of the things that each one of us can do to keep our world clean. |

Ethan Paper
"Ethan Paper" is the literary type. When he is not working on his next great novel, he can be found leisurely browsing the shelves at his local bookstore for something to read. All this reading has made him very smart. He even knows that over 157,000 tons of paper were recycled in Fairfax County last year. Each ton of paper recycled saves 7,000 gallons of water, 4,100 kilowatts of electricity, and 12 trees. Like his other paper friends found in offices and at your local newsstand, Ethan wants to be recycled so his pages can be used again and again. |

Charlie the Battery Boy
"Charlie the Battery Boy" is the get-up-and-go behind this band of recycling buddies. He knows that it's better to recycle car, truck, and lawnmower batteries than to throw them away. Charlie has a long family history in the battery business. His little brother "Button" makes watches go and his mother "Nellie NiCAD" provides the energy needed for cell phones and power tools. His whole family gets a charge out of recycling because they know that car, lawnmower, truck, button and NiCAD batteries can be recycled in Fairfax County at either the I-66 Transfer Station or the I-95 Landfill Complex. Rechargeable batteries can also be recycled at many places where you buy new batteries or power tools. |
|
Yani Polyester
"Yani Polyester" is the life of any party because he is so trendy. He loves pop music! He keeps everyone refreshed and having fun. Yani is fashionable and always looking for the latest trend, which means he is really "into" recycling! One day, he hopes to be recycled into fabric for a T-shirt or fleece jacket. Neat, huh? |
|
Carl B. Slick
"Carl B. Slick" just "re-TIRE-d" after rolling for 50,000 miles in Fairfax County traffic! He just couldn't bear to be forgotten when he heard that more than 10,000 tons of used tires were recycled in Fairfax County last year. Hooray! This guy, he never gets tired of recycling. That's because he knows that after his days are done on the road, he can be recycled into a soaker hose, playground cover, or many other cool things. |
|
Lisa A. Glass
"Lisa A. Glass" is one smooth customer. She tries to act cool but you can see right through her. Because she comes from a family of six, she knows how to reuse and recycle. She is so excited about recycling that sometimes her personality just bubbles over. She secretly hopes to be recycled into a glass slipper, but she would be happy to be remade into another glass bottle - anything to help the environment and prevent pollution! |
|
Tinny Tim
"Tinny Tim" is the youngest one in this crowd and he is certainly the one with the most pep. He likes skateboarding, chilling with his pals and recycling. He is just a can-do kind of kid! But, Tim doesn't want to stop at just being a can, one day he wants to be "re-in-can-ated" as patio furniture or even as another can with the coolest new soda inside! |
Would you like the Recycle Guys to attend your event? If you have seven willing "actors," we can provide the costumes, a short script and music. For more information, please contact Carol Swift at 703-324-5288, TTY 711.
