Stormy the Raindrop
Stormy the Raindrop is a Bronze Medal winner of the 2011 Governor's Environmental Excellence Award!
Hi kids! My name is Stormy the Raindrop, and I
am here to teach you about keeping our land and water clean. Do you know
how our rivers and streams get polluted and dirty? One reason is all of
the litter left on our roads and playgrounds. Stormwater, which is
the water that runs down the street when it is raining, can pick up this
trash and bring it down to our streams and hurt the fish and animals that
live there.
Did you know that our drinking water comes from our streams? It's true! Don't worry, our drinking water is cleaned at a treatment plant before it comes to our house, but remember that all of the animals and plants that live in and near the stream have to drink the water as it is. That is why it is very important to keep our land and water clean!
I need your help to make sure our streams are clean for our animal and plant friends. No matter how old you are, you can help keep our streams beautiful and healthy by keeping your home, school and everywhere else clean. Instead of throwing your trash on the ground, put it into a trash can. You can learn more about our streams and stormwater by reading my activity books.
