Annual Reports on Streams

The annual reports on Fairfax County’s streams present summaries of water quality data and assessments of current stream conditions and trends countywide. They document overall stream conditions based on the abundance and diversity of fish and aquatic insects. In addition, the potential human health risk associated with wading or swimming in streams is assessed based on fecal-associated bacteria.

These reports are developed as part of the stream quality assessment program to meet the needs of the stormwater management program, the Board of Supervisors’ environmental improvement program, and to address requirements of local, state, and federal regulations, including the Chesapeake Bay Act, the county's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit; and the Clean Water Act.

The reports are available either as a complete document or by sections for the convenience of those with slower Internet connections.  They are all in PDF format and are viewable using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
