Fairfax County owns one
treatment plant in the sewer system. Through inter-jurisdictional
agreements, a portion of the wastewater flow collected in the system is
conveyed to five regional treatment facilities operated by Arlington
County, the District of Columbia (Blue Plains), the Alexandria Sanitation
Authority, the Upper Occoquan Sewage Authority, and the Prince William
County Service Authority. The capacities of the various treatment plants
are provided in the table below.
