Wastewater
Management is committed to working closely with residents, businesses,
schools, officials, regional partners, and community organizations to
provide superior wastewater utility service and educational programs. We
appreciate the strong connection people have with the environment in
Fairfax County and recognize the importance of facilitating public
awareness and participation in our work.
From in-school educational programs, to plant tours, community outreach continues to play an important role in our work.
It has become clear, however, that we cannot prevent water pollution alone. That is why Wastewater Management plans to increase efforts to educate students, residents, and businesses about how to prevent water pollution by keeping contaminants from entering the sewer system. Through WEFTeach, the Water Environment Federation’s Sewer Science Laboratory, Wastewater Management is currently working with Fairfax County environmental science teachers to introduce wastewater treatment to students at 25 high schools.
