The Industrial Waste section administers the
National Pretreatment Program which regulates industrial users of the
sanitary sewer system in accordance with the Clean Water Act. County
businesses are surveyed, monitored, and inspected to prevent toxic or
harmful substances from entering the collection system and reaching the
treatment plant. Benefits of pretreatment include:
- Compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations;
- Reduced pollutants to the plant, lowering treatment and disposal costs;
- Efficient use of treatment plants and landfills;
