encroachment, buffers between residential areas and high
density/intensity corridors, appropriate mix of land uses
within community business centers, pedestrian access to
commercial areas, aesthetics and streetscape design, upgrade
existing commercial development within CBC's, improve access to
and ridership of public transit, appropriate redevelopment
around Huntington Metro Station, consolidate small land parcels
for future development, public perception of corridor and
protecting, preserving and promoting environmental and historic
resources. Environment section describes characteristics and
sensitive nature of environmental resources within Mount Vernon
Planning District. |
| Proposed Plan Amendment: |
Add guidance to Overview, Planning Objectives section that
encourages new development and redevelopment to provide bicycle
and pedestrian facilities, discourage new development in
resource protection areas (RPA's), and to follow the
recommendations of the adopted Watershed Managment Plans with
regard to utilization of low impact development techniques
(LID), encouraging reductions in amount of impervious surfaces,
and encouraging conservation of urban forest assets. Update
Overview, Environment section by incorporating language from
adopted Watershed Management Plans. |
