About the Study

About The StudyIn 1998, a Special Study (S98-CW-2CP) and Citizen's Task Force was authorized by the Board of Supervisors to refine a vision for the Merrifield Suburban Center from a visioning workshop held earlier in the year. The vision included a town center south of Route 29 and TOD development near the Metro station. Public outreach included three Town Hall meetings, and property owners and residents from neighboring areas were involved in the study. On June 11, 2001, the Board of Supervisors approved S98-CW-2CP, which established the existing Merrifield Suburban Center Comprehensive Plan language.

The Merrifield Implementation Update will incorporate changes to the existing maps and any corresponding text to reflect the significant development and road improvement projects completed since 2001. Current land use recommendations are not anticipated to change.
