Route 28 Station - South Study

Route 28 Station South The Route 28 Station - South Study was a planning study to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the existing Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan and identify appropriate changes to help guide future development in the vicinity of the Route 28/CIT transit station area.

The study focused on the land area generally bounded by the Dulles Toll Road to the north and Frying Pan Road to the south, and Sully Road (Route 28) to the west and Centreville Road to the east. The commercial area located to the east of Centreville Road and south of Sunrise Valley Drive  was also part of the study area.

The Route 28 Station - South Study amended Comprehensive Plan recommendations to support the County's Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Policy and added recommendations that support the implementation of rail.

A working group consisting of community members also reviewed the Comprehensive Plan for area during the study.  Many of the recommendations were incorporated into he plan amendment.
