Tysons Corner Transportation/Urban Design Study
Community Outreach
The
task force is committed to open communication and ongoing public input to
its work and process. The task force has outlined the planning process
and public input for the future of Tysons and will oversee the process
and all associated public activities. Opportunities for input will be
provided throughout the process of developing a model for the future of
Tysons Corner. Stayed tuned to the Tysons website for
upcoming events.
The task force completed the initial community outreach process during January and February 2006. The task force talked with 424 people, via 20 dialogues and on-line comments, who identified a wide variety of important community values, issues and concerns regarding Tysons’ future. These values included creating an increased sense of place in Tysons Corner, improving traffic conditions, protecting surrounding communities, increasing residential options, and managing growth, among others.
The dialogues were organized around different segments of the Tysons community to capture the full range of voices from the residential, business, development and non-profit sectors. On March 13, 2006, the results of the dialogues were provided to the task force in the report entitled Initial Community Outreach Findings, which is separated into four sections below. All sections are in portable document format (PDF). Adobe Reader is required to view or print these documents.
