Implementing the Future of Tysons Corner
On
September 18, 2007, the Task Force sponsored Implementing the Future of Tysons Corner, an event
with presentations by expert panelists and a period for questions from
the public. GB Arrington, Vice President with PB PlaceMaking, set the
stage by discussing why implementing a plan is just as important as the
plan itself. Richard Reinhard, Deputy Executive Director of the Downtown
DC Business Improvement District (BID), spoke about his experiences with
BIDs in Washington and elsewhere. Robert Wulff, Senior Vice President
with BF Saul Company, discussed public-private partnerships and tools
that can encourage private developers to provide public benefits. James
Snyder, who recently retired from a 30 year career with Arlington County
Planning, talked about implementing Transit-Oriented Development in the
Rosslyn-Ballston corridor. Dr. Judith Meany, Adjunct Associate Professor
of urban planning in the School of Architecture and Planning at Catholic
University, moderated the presentations and the question and answer
session.
