Submission Requirements
A temporary special permit (TSP) application must be filed by the
sponsoring organization at least three (3) weeks prior to the date
on which the permit is to take effect. Applications not received
within this timeframe or without the required fees and supporting
documentation outlined below may be refused. Applications may be
delivered or mailed to the Department of Planning and Zoning,
Zoning Administration Division, Zoning Permit Review Branch, 12055
Government Center Parkway, Suite 250, Fairfax, Virginia 22035-5508.

requirements are:

An application
form completed by the sponsoring organization.

A narrative statement from the sponsoring organization covering
the following points (when applicable):

General description of activity or use
-
Sanitary facilities – identify by what means (if temporary
facilities will be used a copy of the contract must be
provided)

Structure(s) – identify all structure(s) (tents, trailers,
canopies, etc.)

Outdoor lighting and/or loudspeakers – describe use
-
Rides, games, food vendors, and/or animals – identify all
uses and participants. Provide the name, address, and phone
number of commercial organization(s) contracted to provide
services

A copy of a plat or plan to scale showing the ingress and egress
to the event and the location of all rides, games, vendors,
structures, off-street parking spaces, sanitary facilities, and
proposed signs. If parking is anticipated on adjacent lot(s), a
letter of permission from that property owner must be provided.
If signs will be erected, contact the Department of Code
Compliance at 703-324-1300 for further information.

A letter from the property owner granting the sponsoring
organization use of the property as proposed is required if the
sponsoring organization is not the property owner.

A filing fee of $205.00. An escrow deposit in the amount of
$100.00 is required to ensure the lot is cleaned after the event.
Checks should be made payable to the County of Fairfax.

The Zoning Administrator may deny any application which he or she
believes may have an adverse effect upon the surrounding community.
If denied, an appeal may be made to the Board of Zoning Appeals
within thirty (30) days. For further information regarding
temporary special permits, refer to Part 8 of Article 8 of the
Fairfax County Zoning Ordinance (Chapter 112 of the Fairfax County
Code).
