The Fairfax-Area Disability Services Board presented its 2007 Employer
of the Year Award to New Editions Consulting, Inc. today during a morning
ceremony at the Pennino Building, Fairfax, Virginia.
Robert Rudney, chairman of the Employment Committee of the Fairfax-Area Disability Services Board, presented the award to Sheila Newman, president of New Editions Consulting, Inc., a contracts management company based in McLean, Virginia.
"New Editions Consulting, Inc. is being recognized for its outstanding commitment towards the employment of people with disabilities," said Rudney. "Its dedication to the success of people with disabilities through its recruitment, hiring, retention and career advancement practices should serve as a model to employers in Fairfax County and throughout the country,” he added.
The award is part of Fairfax County’s observance of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
New Editions Consulting, Inc. is a woman-owned business that manages contracts related to health, disability and social policy for private sector clients conducting business with the federal government. It also provides technical assistance and training to agencies on disability legislation. One third of the company’s employees have a disability.
The event was hosted by the Fairfax County Department of Family Services’ Disability Services Planning and Development. EXCEL!, a local employment networking group organized by people with disabilities for job seekers with disabilities, provided a continental breakfast.
