Community Interfaith Coordination

Community Interfaith Coordination is within the Department of Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS)'s Countywide Service Integration, Planning and Management Division. The Community Interfaith Coordination promotes the well-being of Fairfax County children, youth , adults, families and communities by facilitating faith communities' (a) access to community resources; (b) coordination or partnership with other faith communities nonprofit organizations, and government agencies; and (c) capacity to develop community assets. This countywide function works with individual houses of worship, religious denomination or association bodies, faith community groups, faith based organizations, interfaith steering committees and councils, nonprofit organization; county government agencies; and issue focused work groups. Service is provided through electronic communications to Fairfax County houses of worship, one on one house of worship and government agency consultation, group consultation and training, interfaith committee support, interfaith clergy and faith leadership council support and joint county agency, nonprofit organization & faith community collaboration support.

Community Interfaith Coordination (CIC) is staffed by a Program Manager and an Administrative Assistant. The Program Manager's title is Community Interfaith Liaison.

Community Interfaith Coordination supports seven types of organizations.

These are:

Individual houses of worship
Judicatory bodies or associations of houses of worship
Individual faith based community organizations
Non Profit community based organizations
Fairfax County Departments and business areas within departments
Faith Communities in Action
Fairfax Clergy and Leadership Council
