What Is the Interagency Domestic Violence Work Group?
Purpose
The Interagency Domestic Violence Work Group provides technical support to Fairfax County’s Domestic Violence Prevention, Policy, and Coordinating Council (DVPPCC). More specifically, the work group’s purpose is to develop recommendations and undertake tasks for the DVPPCC to support the development of an effective community-wide system of prevention and intervention in Fairfax County that is responsive to the complex needs of families impacted by domestic violence and that promotes victim safety and offender accountability.
Objectives
The group pursues the following objectives:
- Identifies and prioritizes problems that need to be addressed in Fairfax County to improve system and community-wide responses to domestic violence

- Develops recommendations and proposed work plans for the DVPPCC that outline the action steps that are needed for solving identified problems

- Provides ongoing recommendations to the DVPPCC for new programs, appropriate linkages, and modifications of existing programs to improve Fairfax County’s system and community-wide responses to domestic violence

- Examines and reviews new and pending state and federal legislation on domestic violence and offers recommendations to the DVPPCC for appropriate action, when necessary

- Provides consultation, training, problem-solving assistance and coordination to the DVPPCC on programs, services, policies, and emerging issues related to domestic violence

- Establishes ad hoc and standing subcommittees, when necessary, to implement DVPPCC action plans needed to improve Fairfax County’s responses to domestic violence
Meetings
The work group meets regularly, from 10 am - 12 pm, on the third Tuesday of every month. Contact the Countywide DV Coordinator if interested in attending a meeting or learning more about the group's activities.
