Fairfax County Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program

DV Advocate MissionThe Fairfax County Police Department has established a Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program based out of Juvenile and  Domestic Relations District Court to provide centralized, coordinated services to survivors of domestic violence and stalking.  Claudia Lefeve, Victim Services Section of the Fairfax County Police Department Domestic Violence Court Advocate, offers ongoing assistance, such as safety planning, emotional support, information, and education about court processes and procedures, options counseling, court accompaniment, and other related services, to survivors of domestic violence and stalking who may be involved in civil or criminal court.  Moreover, she provides targeted assistance to help survivors access other critical county and community-based resources and services.

Prior to coming to Fairfax County, Ms. Lefeve served as the Court Advocate for Doorways for Women and Families, assisting survivors of domestic violence in Arlington County.  In addition, she has experience advocating for survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking as a result of working for the Sexual Assault Response and Awareness Program in Alexandria, VA, and as a Victim-Witness Specialist for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Human Smuggling and Trafficking Unit.

As the Court Advocate, her first goal is to develop a working protocol for the provision of direct services to survivors of domestic violence and stalking.  She also plans to develop courthouse resources in multiple languages for survivors who may have limited English proficiency.  Ms. Lefeve is fluent in Spanish and recognizes the importance of ensuring Fairfax County’s language and ethnic minority communities have full access to resources and services.

Questions regarding the Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program may be directed to Ms. Lefeve.
