Region 2 Cross Agency Team - Department of Systems Management for Human Services staff convenes a monthly meeting of various county agencies serving Region 2 residents. The meeting is an opportunity to share information between programs and discuss issues related to the integrated delivery of human services. Participating agencies include:
Neighborhood College - The Neighborhood College program is a seven-week community leadership program that provides an opportunity for residents to learn how to work with their neighbors, community organizations, and local government to strengthen their neighborhood and promote a strong sense of community. Through a combination of lectures, group discussions, and practical experiences, participants will learn about the local government and how it works; how to participate in the decision-making process; how to work effectively in a diverse community; how to build community partnerships; and how to effectively operate as leaders in the community. Residents of Annandale, Bailey's Crossroads, Falls Church, Merrifield, Pimmit Hills, and Seven Corners are encouraged to register for this exciting learning opportunity. Culmore Community Planning Team - The Culmore Community Planning Team is a public-private partnership working to identify solutions to address the challenges created by the presence of day laborers who gather in the Culmore area. Membership includes day laborers, faith organizations, advocacy groups, business leaders, and several Fairfax County agencies and officials. Domestic Violence Community Resource Council - The Domestic Violence Community Resource Council, initially created to advise on the planning and implementation of the Fairfax County Human Services Domestic Violence Pilot Project, continues to promote a community-based approach to coordinate and integrate services for the prevention and treatment of domestic violence, particularly among the multiethnic community. The council plays a critical role by supporting the capacity of communities to respond to domestic violence and by utilizing the cultural expertise of community leaders to support community outreach efforts. The council is made up of leaders from the Hispanic, Vietnamese, Korean, and Muslim communities, representatives from community-based organizations, faith communities, and key county government agencies.
