e-Check Payments
- You can now have your taxes electronically paid from your savings or checking account. There is no service charge to pay by e-Check.
- Payment is on-time as long as submission is made by the due date.
- Simply provide us information from your check, such as your bank routing number (9 digit number located in the lower left corner of your check) and your account number.
- We will automatically debit your checking or savings account. Please be aware that certain financial institutions only permit e-Check debits from checking accounts and do not permit e-Check debits from savings accounts.

Credit Card Payments
- DTA uses a third party processor to process credit card payments.

Other Methods of Payment
- Discover Only: You can also pay using Discover by calling DTA directly at 703-222-8234, or pay in person at the Government Center. You will be charged a graduated service fee.
- Debit Cards: You can also pay by Debit Card at the Counter at the Government Center, Suite 223, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, Virginia 22035. You will not be charged a service fee.
- By Mail: Mail checks to Fairfax County, Department of Tax Administration, Suite 223, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, Virginia, 22035. Checks should be made payable to: County of Fairfax. US Postmark must be by the due date to avoid late charges.
- At Banks: If you have a copy of your current year tax bill and are paying by the original due date, you can pay Fairfax County real estate and car taxes at certain bank branches throughout Fairfax County. You must pay by cash or check only, and the payment must match the amount billed exactly. All branches of the following banks located in Fairfax County participate in this program: Wachovia; SunTrust; and Bank of America.
- In Person: Visit our main tax office near Fair Oaks Mall at the Fairfax County Government Center, Suite 223, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, Virginia, 22035. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except Thursdays. On Thursdays, the cashier counter is open until 6:30 p.m.
- At Libraries: Pay your car taxes and real estate taxes by electronic check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express only using the automated kiosks located at county libraries.

Automatic Installments
- Fairfax County now offers the option to prepay car taxes or real estate taxes through automatic installments debited electronically from your bank account.
- This installment program is available for real estate tax payments, unless you already pay your taxes through monthly escrows to mortgage companies.
