Register Newly Acquired Vehicle

Before You Begin

• Vehicles purchased or moved into the county must be registered within 60 days of the purchase or move-in date.

• Each car must be registered separately. If you are registering more than one vehicle, you must complete this process once for each vehicle.

• Do not use this application to pay car taxes or to report the sale or move-out of a vehicle already registered with Fairfax County.

• You will need to gather the following information in order to complete the registration:

  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

  • Vehicle Year

  • Vehicle Make

  • Vehicle Model

  • Number of cylinders

  • Weight of your vehicle

  • Cost of your vehicle
