National Preparedness Month: Citizen Corps
Once you have prepared you and your family for an emergency, give back to your community by volunteering with a member organization of the Fairfax County Citizen Corps Council.
Here’s your daily tip for National Preparedness Month:
The Fairfax County Citizen Corps Council harnesses the power of every individual through education, training and service to make communities safe, stronger and better prepared to respond to the threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues and disasters of all kinds.
Members include core organizations the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), Neighborhood Watch, and Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) and affiliate organizations such as Volunteer Fairfax, the American Red Cross, and Amateur Radio Emergency Service.

National Preparedness Month 2011
National Preparedness Month (NPM) is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Ready Campaign. NPM is held each September and its goal is to:

September 2011 is the eighth annual NPM. The month will focus on important preparedness steps:
