Fairfax Connector Buses Equipped With Bicycle Racks
Bus With New Bike Rack on Display Oct. 15 Before Board Meeting

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will mark the installation of bike racks on every bus in the Fairfax Connector fleet on Monday, Oct. 15, at 8:30 a.m. before the beginning of the board’s regular meeting. A Fairfax Connector bus with the newly installed bike rack will be on display in front of the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax. The new bike racks will enable bicyclists in the county to enjoy greater mobility while improving the environment.

The bicycle rack installation is part of the county’s comprehensive bicycle initiative that was officially launched in September 2006. Bicycling is an environmentally friendly transportation option. When people choose bicycling instead of driving to their destinations, the region and the environment benefit through reduced greenhouse gas emissions and reduced congestion.

Instructions for use of the bike rack are available on the Fairfax Connector Web page at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector/bikenride.htm. Fairfax Connector bus drivers also will be able to tell riders how to operate the bike racks.
