Fairfax Connector Accessibility Day Empowers Passengers with Disabilities

The Fairfax County Department of Transportation, the Department of Family Services’ Disability Services and Planning Development and the Fairfax Area Disability Services Board are hosting Fairfax Connector Accessibility Day on Oct. 27, 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax.

This event will give people with disabilities practical information about how to access the many transportation options, programs and services that are available in Fairfax County. Staff from the Fairfax Connector, Fairfax County’s bus system, will be on-site to demonstrate the new and improved accessibility features of the buses. Each style of bus will be represented, so that attendees can learn about accessibility features in the different types of vehicles.

The Fairfax Connector will provide free round-trip shuttle service between the Vienna Metro Rail station and the Government Center throughout the event. To find out more, contact Denis Paddeu, Fairfax County Department of Transportation, at 703-324-1439 or TTY 703-324-1102 or email Denis.Paddeu@FairfaxCounty.gov. Attendees are invited to arrive at 12:30 p.m. for light refreshments. The brief program will begin at 12:45 p.m. with speakers from Fairfax County Government and the Fairfax Area Disabilities Services Board.
