Poplar Tree Road Project
Description
Construction is commencing on a project that will widen Poplar Tree Road to a four lane divided section from Sully Station Drive to Braddock Ridge Drive. The project includes a raised concrete median, a 5-foot wide concrete sidewalk on the west side, and a 6-foot wide asphalt walkway on the east side to match the existing.
The project cost of approximately $5.5 million is funded from a November 2007 Transportation Bond. The project is being managed jointly by the Fairfax County Department of Transportation and the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services.
Section of Poplar Tree Road to Close Temporarily
A section of Poplar Tree Road between Braddock Ridge Drive and Sully Park Drive will be closed to traffic beginning June 22, 2011 for a little over two months. Estimated project completion date is about twelve months from the start of construction; however, traffic lanes are expected to be re-opened to through traffic by September 2, 2011.
