Juvenile Charged With Setting A Fire

 

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators charged a 16-year-old male on Monday, June 27, 2005, with intentionally setting a fire.

The charge is in connection with setting a fire in a trash receptacle on the second floor of Edison High School, 5801 Franconia Road, at approximately 1 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2005. There were no injuries. Damages are estimated at $600.

He is being charged with burning or destroying property valued over $200 (Class 3 felony, Virginia Code § 18.2-79).

Class 3 felonies can convey a term of imprisonment of not less than five years nor more than twenty years and, subject to subdivision (g), a fine of not more than $100,000.
