Three-Alarm House Fire

 

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately noon, Thursday, July 14, 2005, in the Burgandy Village area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 3210 Burgandy Road.

Firefighters arrived to find a two-story single-family home with fire through the roof. Additionally, the fire also damaged the siding and attic of the house at 3208 Burgandy Road. The three-alarm fire brought over 90 emergency personnel to the scene. The fire was brought under control in approximately one hour. A 13-year-old male was at home when the fire started and was transported to Inova Mount Vernon Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Fourteen residents have been displaced, 3208 Burgandy Road displaced four adults, and five children, and 3210 Burgandy Road displaced two adults and three children. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced families.

Damage is estimated at $425,000 for both homes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
