Smoking Materials Cause Centreville Townhouse Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire at approximately 12:05 a.m., Friday, July 22, 2005, in the Centreville area of Fairfax County. The three-story townhouse is located at 5309 Rosemallow Circle.

Firefighters arrived with fire and smoke showing from the sides and rear of the townhouse. Firefighters conducted an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 25 minutes. The fire was contained to the one townhouse, an end unit. Three adults have been displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents. There were no injuries. Working smoke detectors were in the home.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Improper disposal of smoking materials caused the fire.
