Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a two-alarm condominium fire at approximately 6:20 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2005, in the West Annandale area of Fairfax County. The three-story condominium is located at 3366 Woodburn Road.
Firefighters saw fire and smoke coming from the bottom floor condominium upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 25 minutes, minimizing damage to the other condominiums within the complex. One firefighter received non-life threatening burns and was flown to the Washington Hospital Center Burn Unit. He was treated and released. There were no other injuries. Seven condominiums and nine occupants were affected by the fire. The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants.
Occupants from the third-floor condominium were alerted to a sounding smoke alarm and escaped unharmed.
Damage is estimated at $150,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
