Juvenile Charged With Setting House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators charged a 13-year-old juvenile, Friday, July 29, 2005, for setting a fire capable of spreading (Class 6 felony, Virginia Code 18.2-86).

The arrest warrant charges are in connection with the burning of a house, July 14, 2005, at 3210 Burgandy Road, Franconia.

The fire also damaged the siding and attic of the house at 3208 Burgandy Road. The fire caused damages totaling $425, 000. The youth was also transported to Inova Mount Vernon Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Class 6 felonies can convey a term of imprisonment of not less than one year nor more than five years, or in the discretion of the jury or the court trying the case without a jury, confinement in jail for not more than twelve months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both.
