Lightning Causes Fairfax Station House Fire

Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department units responded to house fire at approximately 9:55 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2005, in the Fairfax Station area of Fairfax County. The large two-story brick home is located at 7705 Kelly Ann Court.

Firefighters saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the front, rear, and roof of the home upon arrival. It took approximately two hours to bring the fire under control. Over 60 emergency personnel from Fairfax County and Prince William County fought the fire. There were no injuries. Two adults were home when the fire broke out and escaped unharmed. The American Red Cross is assisting the family of three adults.

Damage is estimated at $1 million. The home is a total loss.

According to fire investigators, a lightning strike to the roof caused the fire.
