McLean House Fire

At approximately 2:20 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2005, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to house fire. The one-story home is located in the McLean area of Fairfax County at 6611 Mata Lane.

Firefighters saw heavy fire and smoke coming from a vehicle parked in the carport in front of the house. Upon arrival, it took approximately ten minutes to bring the fire under control. Over 40 emergency personnel from Fairfax County were brought to the scene.

There were no injuries. Two adults were home when the fire broke out and escaped unharmed.The American Red Cross is assisting the family of two adults.

Damage is estimated at $70,000.

The fire started in the homeowner’s vehicle parked inside the carport of the home. The fire has been determined to be incendiary.
