Two-Alarm Duplex Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a duplex house fire at approximately 1:15 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2005, in the Alexandria area of the County. The two-story duplex is located at 2702 Jefferson Drive.

Firefighters saw smoke showing from all windows of the home. Fire was also showing from all windows in the basement. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 25 minutes. The home was unoccupied when the fire broke out. However, the adjacent duplex was occupied by two adults and one child who have been displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting the family. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $300,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An electrical anomaly caused the fire.
