Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 3 a.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2005, in the McLean area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 6228 Cottonwood Street.
First arriving firefighters saw smoke coming from the eaves of the home. Firefighters conducted an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. The American Red Cross is assisting the one displaced resident. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
According to fire investigators the cause of the fire was accidental. An electrical anomaly in the garage caused the fire.
