Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 7 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2005, in the McLean area of Fairfax County. The two-story, single-family home is located at 1165 Orlo Drive.
First arriving firefighters reported heavy fire and smoke showing through the roof of the structure. An additional alarm was requested, bringing over 60 emergency personnel to the scene. Firefighters conducted an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 50 minutes. The house was unoccupied, and under renovation at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries. Two adult residents were displaced.
The home received heavy damage to the roof from direct flame contact causing the roof to collapse and all three levels of the home sustained heavy water damage.
Damage is estimated at $3.7 million
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
