West Springfield House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 5:10 a.m., September 30, 2005, in the West Springfield area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 5530 Yorkshire Street.

Firefighters arrived to find fire coming from the second story bedroom windows. It took firefighters approximately 10 minutes to bring the fire under control.

One firefighter was transported to Fairfax Hospital for evaluation of non-life threatening injury. Five adults were displaced. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. The fire originated in the upstairs bedroom.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An electrical anomaly caused the fire.
