Two-Alarm Burke House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 10:50 p.m., Thursday, December 15, 2005, in the Burke area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 6105 Rockwell Court.

First arriving firefighters reported fire visible in the attic and heavy smoke coming from the eaves. An additional alarm was requested, bringing over 60 emergency personnel to the scene. Firefighters conducted an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes. The fire was contained in the attic. Two adults and one child were displaced.

Damage is estimated at $300,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The fire originated in a manufactured metal (zero clearance) chimney system.
