Two-Alarm Huntington Apartment Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to an apartment fire at approximately 12:20 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2005, in the Huntington area of Fairfax County. The Huntington Gardens apartments are located at 2821 Fairhaven Avenue.

First arriving firefighters reported heavy smoke visible from the three-story garden apartments. A second alarm was requested, bringing over 60 emergency personnel to the scene. Firefighters conducted an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes. The fire was contained to apartment 204. There was no one at home when the fire started.

Damage is estimated at $25,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
