Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 5:30 a.m., Sunday, December 25, 2005, in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 2932 Irvington Road.
First arriving units reported heavy fire and smoke showing from the front and rear of the structure. Upon arrival, it took firefighters approximately 10 minutes to bring the fire under control. Eleven occupants were displaced, six adults and five children. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. Two occupants were transported for non-life threatening injuries.
Damage is estimated at $150,000.
According to fire investigators, the cause of the fire was accidental; involving the holiday lights.

- Use only lights that are U.L. approved.
- Inspect lights for frayed or cracked wiring, broken plugs, and defective sockets.
- Unplug lights at night and when leaving the home.
