Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire at approximately 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 24, 2005, in the Burke area of Fairfax County. The townhouse is located at 5813 Banning Place.
First arriving units reported smoke and fire visible from the three-level townhouse. Firefighters conducted an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. The fire displaced five residents.
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family.
Damage is estimated at $150,000.
The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental, unattended frying pan.
