Fire Destroys House

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 3 p.m., Monday, May 29, 2006, in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 6010 Ashby Heights Circle.

Firefighters saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the roof and rear of the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters aggressively fought the fire, however, they were not able to save the home. It took firefighters approximately 50 minutes to bring the fire under control. There were no injuries. The family of two adults and two children have been displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

Damage is estimated $800,000. The home is a complete loss.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. A propane grill on the deck caused the fire.
