Fox Mill House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 11 p.m., Sunday, June 11, 2006, in the Fox Mill area of Fairfax County. The two-story home is located at 2648 Wild Cherry Place.

First arriving units saw fire showing from the front door and first floor windows of the brick home. Firefighters battled the blaze and brought the fire under control in approximately 40 minutes. The occupants escaped unharmed. Three firefighters were taken to the Washington Hospital Burn unit with non-life threatening injuries. One other firefighter was transported to Reston Hospital for cuts and abrasions. The family of three adults have been displaced.

Damage is estimated at $400,000.

According to fire investigators, the cause of the fire was accidental. A discarded rag soaked in linseed oil piled onto combustible materials ignited and caused the fire.
