Pohick House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 4:35 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2006, in the Pohick area of Fairfax County. The home is located at 8473 Misty Blue Court.

Firefighters saw fire and smoke coming from the rear of the single-family home upon arrival. The first floor and basement of the single-family rambler home also received extensive fire and smoke damage. The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 minutes. All seven occupants escaped unharmed and are being assisted by the Red Cross. An adult female and infant were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital as a precautionary measure. Firefighters also rescued the family dog in the basement.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.

The fire is under investigation.
