Annandale Church Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a church fire at approximately 2:40 p.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2006, in the Annandale area of Fairfax County. The church, Podowon Presbyterian, is located at 6804 Braddock Road.

Upon arrival firefighters reported smoke throughout the structure. A third-alarm was subsequently requested bringing over 90 emergency personnel to the scene. Firefighters conducted an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $400,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An overloaded electrical outlet/cord caused the fire.
