Merrifield House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 1 a.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2006, in the Merrifield area of Fairfax County. The house is located at 2605 Bowling Green Drive.

Firefighters reported fire from the rear and side of the one-story single-family home. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes. There were no reported injuries. One adult was displaced. Red Cross is assisting the displaced resident.

Damage is estimated at $70,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental, an electrical anomaly within the rear deck caused the fire.
