United Nations Evaluation Team Certifies Virginia Task Force 1

Virginia Task Force 1 has been certified by the United Nations International Evaluation Team after successfully completing all required tasks during their field training exercise, September 19-21, 2006. The exercise was held at several locations throughout Fairfax County.

Virginia Task Force 1 has been classified and certified at both the medium and heavy response levels by the United Nations team. The three-day field exercise evaluated all aspects of the task force, beginning with activation through demobilization.

Virginia Task Force 1 is the only urban search and rescue task force in the United States to receive this designation, and only the third one worldwide.
