Lightning Causes Townhouse Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to fire in a townhouse at approximately 7 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2006, in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County. The townhouse is located at 2225 McLean Park Road.

Firefighters reported fire visible from the roof of a two-story townhouse. Firefighters conducted an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes. There were no reported injuries. Two adults have been displaced.

Damage is estimated at $60,000.

The cause of the fire was accidental; a lightning strike to the roof caused the fire.
