Refuse Trailer Catches Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a tractor-trailer fire at a Fairfax County Recycling Center and Refuse Transfer Station Saturday, December 9, 2006, at approximately 10 a.m. It is located at 4618 West Ox Road.

Firefighters reported a large trailer fully involved upon arrival. The fire was contained to the trailer. It took firefighters approximately 45 minutes to put the fire out. A county employee separated the tractor from the trailer prior to the arrival of firefighters. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $75,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An unknown ignition source started the fire within the trailer.
