Springfield Commercial Building Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a commercial fire at approximately 11:30 p.m., Monday, December 25, 2006, in the Springfield area of Fairfax County. The commercial building is located at 7700-M Backlick Road.

Firefighters reported heavy fire from the front and roof of a one-story strip mall unit. The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes. There were no reported injuries.

Damage is estimated at $135,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The fire originated within the electrical disconnect for the occupancy.
