Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 3:20 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2007, in the Lorton area of Fairfax County. The home is located at 9230 Davis Drive.
Firefighters experienced heavy fire and smoke coming from the front and sides of the single-family, two-story home upon arrival. The home quickly became fully involved with fire. Subsequently, a second alarm was promptly called, bringing over 60 firefighters to the emergency scene. Firefighters fought the fire from the inside the home until fire conditions became untenable for inside operations. Firefighters also contended with a potential electrical hazard in the garage area of the home. Firefighters continued fighting the fire from the exterior of the home. It took firefighters approximately one hour in bring the fire under control. No one was home when the fire broke out. There were no injuries. The Red Cross is assisting the family of four.
Damage is estimated at approximately $815,000. The home is a total loss.
According to fire investigators, the cause of the fire is undetermined.
